The economy in Aspe is supported by the textile and footwear industries, alongside agriculture. The town is particularly known for a type of grape that is traditionally consumed at midnight on New Year’s Eve across Spain, adding a cultural aspect to its agricultural value.

Points of Interest in Aspe

Aspe has several notable historical and cultural sites worth visiting. The historical center, or casco antiguo, includes the Basilica of Nuestra Señora del Socorro, established in 1602, and the Town Hall, which dates back to the 17th century. Additionally, the Castillo del Río, a walled settlement located about 4 km outside of town, and the Municipal Historical Museum highlight the area’s rich history.

Cultural Celebrations

The town observes Fiesta de la Virgen de las Nieves from August 3rd. Every other year, this celebration transitions to the nearby village of Hondón de las Nieves, allowing for a shared experience of the Virgen de las Nieves patron statue. There is also the Moros y Cristianos (Moors and Christians) fiesta, initiated in 1978, which takes place in the second week of August and features daily parades and various events.
