About Aspe Town

Aspe town is situated in the valley of the Vinalopó River and is surrounded by mountains, vineyards, olive groves, and almond trees. It is also a short drive away from larger cities, such as Elche (12 km) and Alicante (25 km). The distance to Alicante Airport and the beaches of Costa Blanca is approximately 22 km.

Economic and Cultural Aspects

The local economy in Aspe primarily revolves around the textile and footwear industries, along with agricultural activities. Aspe is recognized for cultivating a specific variety of grape, which is traditionally consumed at midnight on New Year’s Eve across Spain.

Attractions and Events in Aspe

Visitors can explore the historical center (casco antiguo), the Basilica of Nuestra Señora del Socorro, which was founded in 1602, and the 17th-century Town Hall. Another notable site is Castillo del Río, a walled settlement located 4 km outside the town. The Municipal Historical Museum is also worth a visit.

Aspe hosts several cultural events throughout the year. The Fiesta de la Virgen de las Nieves is celebrated starting from August 3rd, and every other year, the festivities extend to the neighboring village of Hondón de las Nieves to share the patron statue. In addition, the Moros y Cristianos fiesta was introduced in 1978 and takes place around the second week of August, featuring daily parades and various activities.
